New Patients

Welcome to Deerhaven Family Dentistry!

We appreciate the opportunity to provide you, and your family, the highest level of oral health care. We take the patient experience very seriously in our dental practice.

We trust you will feel at home right from the beginning. Here are a few ways you can be a part of the experience.

Arrive early~

We are environmentally conscious. We strive to reduce our footprint by reducing waste in all areas. One way we do that is by being a paperless practice. As a new patient we will ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. At that time you will be greeted by a member of our business team who can assist you with the process of completing an electronic health history on one of our secure tablets.

Be knowledgeable about your dental insurance plan and educate our business team~

We want your experience to be positive. Dental insurance can be confusing and dental plans can have multiple nuances such as waiting periods, restrictions on services, or restrictions on providers. Our business team boasts over 30 years of combined dental experience. They will work diligently to help you navigate the details of your specific plan. We do ask that you become familiar with your own dental insurance plan. This will help you best understand the fees associated with your care in our office.

Dental x-rays~

During a new patient visit several things will happen. You will review your health history with the dental assistant and the doctor. Safety is our top priority with every patient. Notifying our office about any medications you currently take is an important part of that process. Also, informing us of any known allergies will assist us in securing your health and safety while being treated. You’ll also receive a full periodontal health assessment, an oral cancer screening of the head and neck, as well as a thorough review of any dental x-rays. Dental x-rays allows us to see what the eye can not. Many dental diseases occur underneath the gum line and dental x-rays assist us in identifying areas of concern. If you have had x-rays at another dental practice within the past five years we will ask for the doctor’s name and we will contact them to retrieve a readable copy of those images for your exam. In the event we can’t retrieve prior dental x-rays, or there are none available, we will take our own series as part of our commitment to the highest level of care.

"The dentist was ready and waiting in the treatment room when I arrived. He was friendly and courteous and then expertly completed the needed work." -Wendy D.
